Advanced Comments extension for VTiger converts regular VTiger comments to featured comments. It adds several vivid enhancements to existing comments functionality. In addition to two picklist fields that you can create for comments (used for categorization), several distinguish features have been added to the extension so far. Rich text formatting, reply via email to a comment, making comments internal by default are just some of those. The extension also supports tagging users in comments using standard @mention. The tagged user gets a notification via email about the comment.

New Feature

Advanced Comments extension for VTiger now supports limiting preview of comments to specified number of characters. You can also setup “Smart Preview” to restrict the preview to a specified keyword.

Limit Preview to X Characters

In this field, you can setup how long you want a comment’s preview to be. This is very helpful in cases where the comments are long and users need to spot comments in a single glance, while browsing through all the comments.

The field is numeric; you can set number of characters in this field that you want to be shown in the comments. We recommend keeping it 100-300 characters in order to keep it reasonably visual, information, and neat – all at the same time.

Smart Preview

Another extremely useful feature in regards to comments preview is the “Smart Preview”. It allows you to setup predefined keywords, where you want the preview to be cut off. Once that keyword is detected in a comment, the preview won’t show the comment through that keyword and exclude the word as well.

This is really helpful in cases where emails are added to comments that contain signatures, greetings, dates, contact info etc. in every email. You can add as many keywords as required.

Bonus

Now you can also sort comments by newest or oldest dates. To show comments in ascending or descending order by date, use this setting in the configuration panel of Advanced Comment for VTiger.
