Synology DiskStations solve a variety of problems for everyone from the casual home user to a system administrator at a large company. Sharing files, backing up several computers at once, streaming media, and hosting websites are just a sample of what these powerful devices are capable of doing.

One of the apps available on Synology drive is vTiger CRM. Depending on your Synology DSM version you might have vTiger 5.x or even latest vTiger 6.1 available. We had quite a few inquires regarding the vTiger Upgrades on Synology drive as well as backups & transfers out of the drive. The most common request is “How to move vTiger off Synology Drive?“. Again, it requires some technical skills to be able to backup vTiger Database on Synology Drive and archive & move vTiger files. Synology Drives come with built in phpMyAdmin which should be used to backup your vTiger database. Once the database is backed up, you should then find and archive/compress your vtigercrm folder. Next step is to move those files & database backup to the new server. Then, restore the database on the new server and extract vtiger files in  the web directory. The final step is to adjust the config.inc.php file with new database information, $site_url and $root_directory. Assuming you followed all the steps – you should be able to access your vTiger on the new server.
